Eating Disorder
and
Trauma Therapy
Growth isn’t easy.
That’s why we do it together.
Hi, I’m Emily (she/her) - Licensed Professional Counselor in Washington, DC & Virginia.
I treat clients who are navigating eating disorders, the impacts of trauma, self harm, and identity exploration.
I’m here to hold the things that make life feel heavy, until you feel ready to hold them yourself.
START Your JOURNEY
Eating Disorder Treatment
Whether you’re new to the world of eating disorders, or consider yourself a “pro”, I’m here to help you navigate your journey.
With years of experience at various levels of care, I can offer support to help you decide what’s right for you and your recovery.
Trauma
Therapy
You may have heard scary things about trauma: what it is, what it means, and how to heal.
When engaging in trauma work with me, you remain in control of the process so that you can start feeling less overwhelmed, and start living more of your life.
My Guiding Principles
Feminist Based Care
Feminist-based therapy recognizes that our mental health does not exist in a vacuum. It’s shaped by relationships, culture, systems, identity, and lived experience.
This approach values collaboration, autonomy, and empowerment, while honoring the impact of societal pressures, oppression, and unequal power dynamics.
Using a feminist lens helps create a therapy space that is affirming, non-pathologizing, and grounded in compassion, curiosity, and respect for each person’s unique experience.
Body Liberation
Body liberation is the belief that all bodies deserve dignity, care, and respect, regardless of size, ability, gender, race, or appearance.
In therapy, a body liberation approach moves away from shame, restriction, and appearance-based ideals, and instead supports clients in building safer, more compassionate relationships with their bodies.
Using a body liberation lens allows therapy to be more affirming, inclusive, and grounded in the belief that people deserve support exactly as they are.
Health at Every Size®
Health at Every Size® is an evidence-based approach that challenges the idea that health can be measured solely by weight or body size.
Instead, it emphasizes compassionate, individualized care, body respect, intuitive eating, and sustainable behaviors that support well-being without shame or restriction.
Harm Reduction
A harm reduction approach to therapy recognizes that change is complex, non-linear, and deeply personal. Rather than focusing on punishment, shame, or all-or-nothing expectations, harm reduction supports clients in increasing safety, autonomy, and quality of life at a pace that feels realistic and sustainable to them.
People deserve compassionate care regardless of where they are in their healing process. Using a harm reduction lens helps create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, collaboration, and respect, rather than judgment or coercion.
Frequently Asked Questions
Therapy is a big decision and you might have questions. I might have answers!
See below for FAQ’s; if you’re still curious about something, please send me an email.

No I do not- I am considered an out of network provider. You can ask your insurance company about your out of network benefits, and I will supply a super-bill at the end of each month which you can submit to them for reimbursement.
I feel passionately that out-of-network therapy helps clients get what they actually need that it can be accessible.

That's a great question. This is mostly dependent on our schedules aligning, but I typically see clients on a weekly basis and I offer sessions between the hours of 10:30 am - 7pm.
I do not offer weekend sessions.

Absolutely. While eating disorders are my specialty, I have experience working with substance use disorders and recovery, self harm, depression, anxiety, life transitions, gender and sexual identity exploration, and complex trauma. If any of these pertain to your current struggles, we can work together.
In full transparency- I do not specialize in neurodivergence or OCD. If you are seeking treatment with these diagnoses as your primary concern, I am happy to help you find a referral.
-
I ask for 24 hours notice when cancelling a session, otherwise I will charge the full session fee. Life happens, things pop up, I handle emergency cancellations on a case-by-case basis.
